A gem encased in white sand! This peaceful island is as close to paradise as you can ever hope to get, with palms draping over crystal waters and neatly raked coral paths winding in gardens bursting with tropical colors. A turquoise lagoon facing north-west reflects all the hues of the sun. The sand is whiter than white, pearlised, waiting each morning for the kaleidoscope of shells and foam the sea brings in.

Then there’s the world below the water. Fesdu is renowned for its underwater offerings -dive sites enhanced by farus and tillas which don't reach the surface and are often as deep as 8m to the top of the reef. A faru is a coral wall, usually in a large circle, which rises up from anywhere between 40m-20m to just below the surface of the sea; a tilla is a smaller formation that rises up like a small hill.

A unique diving spot in Fesdu is Hoholla Faru. This faru has a number of shallow caves big enough to swim into. The ceiling and walls are very honeycombed, allowing fish to swim in and out at their leisure. The ceiling, a living mural, is covered by coral encrusted clam shells. Just a stones throw from Fesdu is Gaatha Fushi. This Fushi, a small island in old Dhiveli, is totally intact and wild – a tropical fantasy also part of The Retreat.
