Redefined, refurbished and recognized as KIHAAD Maldives, nestled on its own 600 meters long, coconut-shaped island, complete with lush green vegetation, long white beaches and an adjacent house reef.
Whilst the resort offers 110 spacious, private villas and whole range of simple and natural facilities, majority of the island has still been left in its pristine natural state.
KIHAAD – named traditionally in local Dhivehi language as `young coconut island`with a beach length of some 1,200 meters around the Island, is a haven of peace, tranquility and serenity. The crystal clear turquoise waters of the shallow waist-deep lagoon surrounding the island stretch as far as the eye can see. The Island's uniquely rich and dense vegetation instills a feeling of harmony and being at one with nature. Guests may fly-in on seaplanes by a 35-minute scenic photo-flight from the international airport at Male', the capital of the Maldives.
Philosophy & Environment
Simplicity and Nature blends harmoniously together at KIHAAD. The entire Island and lagoon is the exclusive and private domain of our guests set just across the Hanifaru Bay which is a Marine Protected Area (MPA)biosphere announced by UNESCO where whale sharks and manta rays meet seasonally. It is only limited to a number of accredited diving schools and resorts, KIHAAD being one of them.
Just like UNESCO, KIHAAD focuses on the preservation of marine life and local lifestyle, traditional ways and customs of serving and living together. That's why we are the first `The Reserve` island in Maldives. Sharing not only beaches, sun and sea for a holiday season, also creating unique, memorable experiences that fosters a network and community to preserve the timeless beauty and specialty of Maldives.
All of the Island's villas boast breathtaking panoramic views over the beautiful turquoise lagoon and the Indian Ocean. At the same time, you can indulge all your senses in the magic of this Maldivian Island and enjoy every local experience to imagine and fulfill your dream.
Despite the extensive facilities and services at KIHAAD, barely 30% of the Island has been utilized, thereby 70% in its original state, untouched by the hand of man.
